Mavis' Tribute Fund

Created by John 16 years ago
Mum saw her life turned upside down in 2001 when she was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. From the very start Mum never complained and always remained positive about life in general and felt sorry for others who had been diagnosed with this dreadful disease, especially those at an earlier age than her. During her illness Mum kept the family close and set herself goals to reach. The birth of her last grandson, Sammy, the wedding of Paul her eldest son to Sharon, a Christmas or Birthday or even just a visit from lifelong friends, Enid & Ron. All these dates were to reach and celebrate. As we all know eventually this awful disease wins and that day came on Sunday 26th November 2006 when Mum passed away in her sleep at Leeds General Infirmary. This Tribute fund is our families way of giving something back to the MND Association as a thank you for all the help and support that they gave Mum. Also it is to help find a cure for this terrible debilitating disease so that others do not have to suffer in the way Mum did. The first part of our efforts to raise money is by John, her youngest son and his wife Helen running the London Marathon in April 2007 and David her middle son running the Leeds half marathon in May 2007. If you can help by sponsoring John, Helen or David or would just like to make a donation then please click on the link above. All money raised on these pages will be earmarked as being donations made via this Tribute Fund when they reach Motor Neurone Disease Association. Simply choose one of the links above to see what you can do. If you like, you can also sign the guest book and tell other people about this service. Kind Regards, Paul, Sharon, David, Fran, John & Helen Marsden
